STEEL 78 EXPLOSION 53

TRENTON, N.J. - E.J. Nemeth threw six touchdown passes and threw three more as the Steel clinched the final playoff spot in the East with this win and Richmond's loss on Saturday.

Damon Harrison had five of those six catches and finished with nine grabs for 141 yards.

Adam DiMichele threw six touchdowns for Erie.

LIONS 62 HAMMERS 27

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Defending SIFL champion Columbus scored 41 second-half points to pull away from Alabama.

Gerald Gales caught three touchdowns for the Lions, who held a 21-14 halftime lead. Leon Foster had two sacks, one for a safety.

Matthew Martin, playing in place of Kevin Eakin, threw three touchdowns for the Hammers.

BUCS 68 HAMMERHEADS 47

LAKE CHARLES, La. - Ellis Mead's interception return, Bryant Mason's fumble return and Ben McLaughlin's 9-yarder to Sammy Knight helped LA turn a 35-33 halftime deficit into a 54-35 advantage as the Bucs renewed their rivalry with Corpus Christi.

PANTHERS 48, RAIDERS 42

RICHMOND, Va. - Antwone Savage's 15-yard pass from Cecil Lester with 1:58 remaining lifted Albany over Richmond and kept the Panthers tied with Columbus for the No. 1 Eastern seed.

Richmond tied the game on Damon Thompson's 19-yarder from Antwon Young with 3:59 to go.

Lester finished 21 of 38 for 189 yards and 5 TD - two each to John Harris and Savage,

Young threw two scores and rushed for two more for Richmond.

SPEED 84, FORCE 22

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Tanner Cunningham tied an SIFL record with four rushing touchdowns and Bill Ashburn threw six touchdown passes in seven completions as Carolina routed Fayetteville.

Cunningham finished with 90 yards on 15 carries.

Eric Foster scored two touchdowns for Fayetteville.

MAGIC 98 LANDSHARKS 18

HIDALGO, Tex. - John Taylor and Danny Young each scored four touchdowns as RGV defeated the Edinburg Landsharks.
