Tucson, AZ- The Tucson Sidewinders Holiday Fireworks Friday has been officially proclaimed by Mayor Bob Walkup's office. City Councilman Fred Ronstadt, doubling as Santa Claus, will read the proclamation at the event that will take place Friday (tomorrow) at the Reid Park Band Shell with Santa's arrival at 6pm.
"Last season was a great one for Sidewinders baseball and as a gift for our community we are happy to host a free Fireworks Friday," said owner Jay Zucker.
The pyrotechnics show will commemorate the return of Fireworks Friday at Tucson Electric Park for the entire 2005 season. Admission is free and open to the public event with a suggested donation of canned goods or non-perishable items to benefit the Tucson Community Food Bank or diapers to benefit the Southern Arizona Diaper Bank.
Tucson Sidewinders representatives will officially welcome 2004 manager Chip Hale back for another season at the helm of the team. Ronstadt, as Santa, will be distributing free family tickets to the Sidewinders first Fireworks Friday of the season that will take place during the team's home opener on April 15th. The crowd will also be treated to entertainment from Mariachi TapatÃo and holiday music with students from the PRIME School of Music.
The 2005 season will feature a total of 11 Fireworks Fridays in addition to two special Independence Day Spectaculars on July 2nd and 3rd.
