Series Updates

Bucks In Position to Return to Conference Finals

After playing in six straight Southern Conference Finals before missing that platform last year, the Laredo Bucks are once again in position to play for a chance to advance to the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Playoffs. The Bucks will have two chances to advance but will have to do it on foreign ice as they play in Allen versus the Americans on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Bucks were behind in the series 2-1 but rallied to win back-to-back games outscoring the Americans 9-4 in those two wins. Brent Cullaton has been a nice addition for the Bucks as he has scored three goals and added an assist in three games.

ALN/LAR Series Notes:

-What a stretch of play for Bucks rookie goaltender Pier Pelletier who has played in every playoff game thus far winning three of the five while posting a .925 save percentage. Pelletier finished the regular season on a 11-game point streak going 9-0-2 in his last 11 decisions.

-Laredo veteran Jeff Bes has always been the key to the Bucks post-season success coming into this year's playoffs with 99 points (42-57=99) in 80 games. So far during this post-season, he has been kept in check from finding the back of the net but has helped out on four goals.

-Allen was 23-4-5 at home during the regular season sitting as one of the top home teams. The Americans will need to win back-to-back home games to advance to the conference finals.

Jacks Win Series Over Texas

Mirroring last year's conference semifinals, the Odessa Jackalopes won four straight games erasing a 2-0 series deficit and now advance to the Southern Conference Finals for the second straight season. The Jacks outscored the Brahmas 18-9 during their four-game win streak. 2009 CHL Most Valuable Player and 2010 MVP finalist Sebastien Thinel has been the catalyst of the Jacks surge scoring four goals with seven assists over the three-game hot stretch. The Jacks now await the winner of the Laredo/Allen series.

ODE/TEX Series Notes:

-After going scoreless in the Jacks first two games in the series, Collin Circelli has found his touch again posting two goals (including the OT game winner in game six, the series clincher) and five assists in the last four games. Circelli had 72 points (37-35=72) during the regular season.

-Odessa defenseman Alex Dunn led all skaters in the series with a +8 plus/minus rating. He finished with two goals and two assists.

'Bugs Return to Conference Finals

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs have gotten back to where they are comfortable and to where their fans expect them to be as they will once again play in the Northern Conference Finals with a chance to advance to the Presidents' Cup Finals. The Mudbugs advanced to the conference finals by sweeping the Colorado Eagles in the semifinals. Things may have looked grim for the 'Bugs early in Game Two as goaltender John DeCaro went down with a playoff-ending groin injury but veteran Ken Carroll stepped right in showing his All-CHL colors winning three straight decisions carrying a .935 save percentage.

BOS/COL Series Notes:

-Shawn Limpright carried his strong play to close the regular season (2-5=7 in last five games) right into the post-season as he led the Mudbugs with three goals and two assists for five points.

-The 'Bugs special teams tore it up in the semifinals scoring five times in 19 chances. Their 26% success rate is third among all playoff teams. All three of Limpright's goals have come on the PP.

Rush Head to First Conference Finals

The Rapid City Rush joined the Mudbugs in the conference finals in similar fashion by sweeping their opponent, the Missouri Mavericks. The Rush doubled up the Mavs in the series outscoring them 18-9 and were strong on the PK allowing three Missouri goals in 22 chances. Les Reaney paced the Rush during the series scoring nine points (3-6=9) with two game winning goals and a +5.

RPD/MIZ Series Notes:

-CHL Rookie of the Year Danny Battochio won all four games for the Rush and carried a 2.23 GAA and a .936 save percentage. The first year net minder allowed just one goal in each of the first three games and then was in an offensive showdown allowing six goals in the 7-6 Game Four win.

-Rapid City scored just one goal in the first periods of their four games but combined to score 16 goals in the second and third period combined (eight in each).
