Conference Finals Set

The final four is set in the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Playoffs with Rapid City taking on Colorado in the Turner Conference and Allen battling Bossier-Shreveport in the Berry Conference. Both best-of-7 series' get underway on Friday, April 29 with Rapid City and Allen hosting the Game 1's.

Leaders at a Glance

Although the Tulsa Oilers have been ousted from the playoffs, forward Chad Costello remains atop the CHL's Playoff Scoring Leaders with 19 points (5-14=19). In fact, you have to go all the way down to the fourth spot to find a player whose team is still ticking in the post-season in Konrad Reeder (Rapid City) -the Rush's forward has 13 points (4-9=13). Colorado's Andrew Penner leads all goaltenders with a 1.78 GAA and Rapid City's Tim Boron leads all goalies with a .941 save percentage.

One-Sided

The two conference finals stack up very evenly on paper between the four clubs but if you look at the head-to-head battles they certainly, in both match-ups, favor a certain direction. In the Allen/Bossier-Shreveport series, the Americans have gone 8-1-1 in the 10 games against the Mudbugs with Tobias Whelan scoring seven goals in 10 games. In the Rapid City/Colorado series, the Eagles won nine of the 12 meetings during the regular season. Goalie Kyle Jones is 8-1-0 versus the Rush with a 1.91 GAA and forward Daymen Rycroft scored nine of his 31 goals on the season versus the Rush.

Importance of Game One

Tough to really tell who important Game 1's are in best-of-7 series' as over the last five years, the team that has won Game 1 has won the series 21 times in 34 chances. Last season was a bit more even as the team that scored first went 4-3 in the series with the Finals going to the Rapid City Rush, over the Allen Americans, despite the Rush losing Game 1. So far in this season's playoffs, the team winning Game 1 has won 50% of the time (6-6) although all series' have been best-of-5.
