Scarborough Shooting Stars News Release
The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Wednesday that they have re-signed team Canada guard Kassius Robertson. The Toronto native suited up in 10 games for Canada during the 2023 World Cup qualifiers where he averaged 11.8 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1 steal in 19.2 minutes per game.
"Kassius is a proven elite scorer. He has played at the highest level all over the world and has had a major impact on every team. We are thrilled for him to be back with us in Scarborough," said general manager Brady Heslip. "His play late last season showed how impactful having him on the floor was for us. His desire to win a championship is one of the main reasons he is back. Kassius is pound for pound the best scorer in this league and we are excited to have him with us for a whole season."
Robertson is currently playing for Obradoiro in the Spain-Liga Endesa where he is averaging 17.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 28.7 minutes per game as a starter. In five games with the Shooting Stars last season, he averaged 19 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.2 steals while helping lead the team through the playoffs to the CEBL championship game where he scored 23 points, shooting 4-6 from the field and 4-4 from beyond the arc in the team's 90-88 loss.
Scarborough opens training camp May 18 at Royal Crown Academic school in preparation for their season opener on May 26 at the CAA Centre, in a rematch of last year's CEBL championship game versus the Brampton Honey Badgers. Scarborough welcomes the Winnipeg Sea Bears to the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre for their first home game on June 2. Tickets are on sale now.
