South Shore Shooters News Release

DYER, IN -- The weekend of August 15th, 16th, and 17th served as a big step in the right direction for the South Shore Shooters organization. 3 players as well as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Darren Seid traveled to Cincinnati, OH for the tryout camp of the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL). Team Captain Brian Jacque (D), Assistant Captain Jim Stussy (F), and Billy Hunt (F) were the 3 players that were skating in the tryout.

The Cincinnati Cyclones, 2007 - 2008 ECHL Champions, coaching staff was very complimentary of all 3 Shooters players. Each one got a chance to showcase their talent and make a play for depth chart considerations. As injuries and call ups at the NHL and AHL levels demand for Cylcones players to be lifted, the chances for Jacque, Stussy, and Hunt to be called up will increase.

Coach Seid was in Ohio for multiple reasons. To promote the 3 signed players, build a relationship with a "AA" organization within 4 hours from Dyer, IN, and to scout talent. Seid commented about the trip, "The weekend was a major success for our organization as a whole. We were able to sign players, build relationships with players that are coming up the ranks, establish a working relationship with a premier "AA" organization, and speak on behalf of the already signed Shooters with the Cyclones coaching staff. We are looking to be the leader in single "A" call ups this year, and for years to come. The combination of our training facility, professional environment, and the building of these relationships is what will help us to earn the reputation as the organization to call, when in search of the next "AA" player.
