
Shock Sign Free Agent Tyresa Smith

Auburn Hills, MI - Detroit Shock Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Bill Laimbeer announced today that the team has added free agent guard Tyresa Smith to their roster. In addition to Smith, center Tausha Mills re-signed with the Shock for the remainder of the season.
Smith played her collegiate basketball for the University of Delaware, where she was the second leading career scorer at Delaware in addition to being the school's all-time leader in steals. Smith was named CAA Defensive Player of the Year and first team all conference her junior and senior seasons.
Smith became the first player from the Uof D women's basketball squad to be drafted into the WNBA, 18th overall, by the Phoenix Mercury.
The Phoenix Mercury waived Smith on May 17.
Shock center Tausha Mills signed a 7-day contract with the Shock on August 9. In her first four games with the Shock, she averaged 3.3 points and 4.0 rebounds.
