Ohio Machine News Release

COLUMBUS, Ohio - In a hard fought battle at Fortress Obetz, the Ohio Machine fell to the Atlanta Blaze, 13-10, in the teams' only meeting this season.

The game started off slow after an hour and a half rain delay. It took five minutes for the first goal of the game to be scored as Bryce Wasserman put the Machine (3-9) on the board with his first goal of his MLL career.

Ryan Ambler scored his first goal of the game to halt a four-goal scoring streak from the Blaze (5-6). His goal ended the scoring for the first quarter and cut the Blaze's lead to two. Atlanta's three goal second quarter gave the team a four goal advantage into the second half. Ryan Keenan scored the Machine's only goal of the quarter.

The Machine opened the second half building momentum with Keenan and Ambler adding their second goals of the game within two minutes of each other. After a goal from Atlanta, the Machine answered back with goals from Justin Guterding and Peter Baum to put the team within one of the Blaze. Guterding added his second of the game and of the quarter to tie the game at 8-8.

Baum was inches away from giving the Machine the lead with a pipe shot that bounced off Atlanta goalie Adam Ghitelman, who jumped on the ball just in time to keep it from crossing the goal line. With less than three minutes to play in the third, Atlanta's Kevin Rice scored his second goal of the game to take back the Atlanta lead.

In the fourth, Davey Emala scored his first goal of the game off an assist from Kyle Harrison, evening the score at 10. Baum added another goal for the Machine, but Atlanta's four-goal fourth quarter effort brought the Blaze their fifth win of the season.

The game was Bear Davis' 80th game as head coach of the Ohio Machine. Davis joined the team halfway through the 2013 seasons and has coached 74 regular season games and six playoff games.

In their 12th different lineup of the season, the Machine played eight rookies against the Blaze. The rookie trio of Guterding, Keenan, and Wasserman added goals in the Machine's effort to take down Atlanta.

Emala, Keenan, and Guterding have all scored at least one goal in four consecutive games.

Elsewhere, the Charlotte Hounds defeated the Chesapeake Bayhawks, 20-10, officially eliminating the Machine from playoff contention. The Sheens are back in action on Thursday as they host the Florida Launch at 7 p.m.
