Shawinigan and Moncton receive fines

BOUCHERVILLE, Friday, March 9, 2007 - The Commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Gilles Courteau, today imposed $1,000 fines to the Shawiningan Cataractes and the Moncton Wildcats for separate incidents.

Shawinigan was fined $1,000 for initiating premeditated on-ice altercations immediately following the puck-drop in the third period of a game against the Halifax Mooseheads last February 18. Moreover, members of the hockey staff were seen making inappropriate remarks towards the on-ice officials following the game.

Moncton also received a $1,000 fine for failing to respect the video replay policy in a game against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan last February 26.

In accordance with the QMJHL policy in the matter of disciplinary sanctions, the Commissioner will not be available for further comment.
