Sharp Leaving Miracle

FORT MYERS, FL (July 20, 2012) - The Fort Myers Miracle announced today that Director of Media Relations/Promotions Manager Gary Sharp will be leaving at the end of July to return to Nebraska. Sharp, who has been with the Miracle for six years, will be joining the NRG Media Omaha team as the Sports Director for 1620 The ZONE (KOZN) and 1180 ZONE 2 "The Deuce" (KZOT). According to station management, Sharp will manage all of the stations' sports assets, voice play-by-play coverage and provide color analysis. In addition, on 1620AM The ZONE, Sharp has been named co-host for the new morning program featuring former Nebraska football All-American Jason Peter. The new show will air weekdays from 7a-11a.

Sharp has more than 16-years of sports marketing experience working with such franchises as the Miracle, Minnesota Twin baseball franchise, the Wheeling Nailers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. From 1994-2005, Sharp worked as the sports director for the Nebraska Sports Network where he served as pre-game host, sideline reporter, locker room host, and sports talk show host. During that time, he also worked as the play-by-play voice for the Nebraska Baseball team and has been a play-by-play announcer in the United States Hockey League, ECHL and Florida Gulf Coast University.

"We've had some great success here in Fort Myers and I will miss the people and relationships I have developed in baseball," said Sharp.

The Miracle has been nominated four straight years by the Florida State League for the Larry MacPhail Award. The award is given to a team that demonstrates excellence in promotion of the team in its community.

The club has received numerous national accolades for its creative promotions including, "Billy Donovan Night", "What Would Tim Tebow Do Night" and "Rest the Vest Night".

"Gary will be missed and we are so happy for him. He is returning to a medium in which he has a passion for and the fans in that region are over the top when it comes to supporting their teams," said Miracle President Steve Gliner.
