
Sharks Sweep BeachBoys, Take HWB East Lead

The Honolulu Sharks won their fourth straight game with a 5-2 victory over the Waikiki BeachBoys tonight at Hans L'Orange Park, and in the process, moved into the Hawaii Winter Baseball East Division lead. With the win, Honolulu (7-5-1) completed the three-game series sweep, and has now won four of five contests against the BeachBoys (7-6) thus far.
Sharks starter Ryohei Tanaka (1-0, 1.84 ERA) earned the victory after allowing one earned run on four hits and striking out five through five innings on the bump. Chad Thall pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his first save of the HWB campaign. Waikiki starter Shane Lindsay (0-2, 8.53 ERA) took the loss, allowing three runs in 2 1/3 innings.
Argenis Diaz drove in two runs for Honolulu, and teammate Takumi Kobe notched two hits including a double. Emmanuel Garcia led the BeachBoy offense with two singles while David Maroul doubled and drove in a run.
Honolulu and the North Shore Honu open a three-game set tomorrow at Hans L'Orange Park, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The BeachBoys come back to Hans L'Orange Park tomorrow at noon to open a three-game series with the West Oahu CaneFires.
