Honolulu Sharks News Release

Honolulu received yet another stellar performance from starter Satoshi Nagai as the Sharks downed visiting Waikiki, 4-0, in the finale of a three-game series this afternoon in a seven inning contest at Waipahu's Hans L'Orange Park.

Nagai (3-0) tossed five scoreless innings, surrendering two hits and striking out six in the process. The Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles hurler also lowered his ERA to 0.64.

Despite recording just four hits, Honolulu took advantage of six BeachBoys' walks and two errors as three of the squads' runs came across without a hit. Ryo Hijirisawa notched an RBI double in the sixth inning for the Sharks' lone extra-base hit.

The Sharks (7-3-1) increased their lead over the BeachBoys in Hawaii Winter Baseball's East Division to 3 ½ games after taking two of three against the division rivals.

Waikiki (4-7) managed two hits on the afternoon, including a double off the bat of catcher Alex Garabedian. BeachBoys starter Andrew Brackman (1-2) took the loss, surrendering a run on two hits and striking out four through 3 1/3 innings.

Honolulu opens a three-game series with the North Shore Honu tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Hans L'Orange Park. Waikiki starts a three-game set with the West Oahu CaneFires tomorrow at Les Murakami Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
