Sharks Announce Opening Opponent

Orlando, Fla. - (August 14, 2007) - History will be made as a new era in Central Florida professional sports officially kicks off on Friday, October 26 when the Major Indoor Soccer League's (MISL) expansion-entrant Orlando Sharks host the New Jersey Ironmen at the Amway Arena (formerly T.D. Waterhouse Centre). It will be the first time each of the teams takes to the field for a regular season game. Kickoff for the "Opening Night Gala" is scheduled for 7:35pm.
"Two years of preparation on and off the field will culminate that evening," said Sharks president Rich Bradley. "We expect a great night of world class soccer and premiere entertainment for the sports fans of Central Florida!"
The Ironmen share common ownership with the NHL's New Jersey Devils and will play in the new $375 million Prudential Arena, which is scheduled to open in downtown Newark this fall.
The Sharks will host 15 regular homes games, each with a party theme attached to the night, during the 2007-08 MISL regular season which stretches from October 19 to April 6, 2008.
The remainder of the Sharks home and away schedule is expected to be released no later than August 21. Sharks season tickets are on sale and can be purchased through the club by calling (407) 403-6300.

The newest expansion team of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), the Orlando Sharks, an operating unit of Orlando-based BVC Sports & Entertainment, will compete with the Baltimore Blast, California Cougars, Chicago Storm, Detroit Ignition, Milwaukee Wave, Monterrey (MX) La Raza, New Jersey Ironmen and Philadelphia Kixx in the MISL's 2007-08 season. The Opening Night Gala (Shark's Home Opener) versus the New Jersey Ironmen kicks off the team's Inaugural Season this fall at the Amway Arena; game time is 7:35pm.
