Chicago Shamrox News Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Chicago Shamrox converted just three of their 10 power-play opportunities and gave up six power play goals to the Rochester Knighthawks in a 13-8 loss in front of 8,618 fans at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. With the loss, the Shamrox fall to 3-2 on the year and surrender first-place to the Knighthawks, who improve to 5-2 on the 2007 season.

After goals from Chris Panos and Jon Harasym gave the Shamrox a 2-1 lead 6:32 into the first quarter, the Knighthawks ripped off 7-straight goals, including a natural hat-trick from Scott Evans, to build an 8-2 lead at the half.

The Shamrox rallied behind two goals each from Jason Clark and Tom Montour to cut the lead to 11-8 midway through the 4th quarter. But the Shamrox rally came to an abrupt halt as Steve Toll and Ken Millin scored late goals to put the game out of reach late in the final frame.

"We really dug ourselves a hole in the first half." said Shamrox Head Coach/GM Jamie Batley. "We kept fighting and kept it close late in the game, but that early hole was too much for us to climb our way out of. I am proud of the way our guys never gave up, but we definitely have some things to work on for next week."

Montour led the scoring charge for the Shamrox with 5 points (2g, 3a) while Evans racked up 8 points (4g, 4a) to lead the Knighthawks offensive attack. Shamrox goaltender and reigning NLL Defensive Player of the Week Brandon Miller made 41 saves on 54 shots on the night.

The Shamrox return home to the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates next Sunday, February 11, at 3:00 p.m. CST against the defending NLL East champion Buffalo Bandits. Tickets are on sale now by calling 877-SHAMROX or visiting www.chicagoshamrox.com.
