Several Phantoms Head to Flyers Rookie Camp

Several Adirondack Phantoms players will attend the Philadelphia Flyers Rookie Camp beginning Friday, September 6 in Voorhees, N.J. The rookie camp is a prelude to the main training camp for the Flyers which will begin shortly after.

A total of 25 prospects have been invited by the Flyers to the camp. 13 of those players were part of the Adirondack Phantoms last season (or previously) including: Brandon Alderson, Mark Alt, Tyler Brown, Nick Cousins, Kyle Flanagan, Cal Heeter, Tyler Hostetter, Andrew Johnston, Matt Konan, Scott Laughton, Matt Mangene, Derek Mathers, Marcel Noebels.

Many of these players could be suiting up for the Phantoms again this season.

The Rookie Camp will consist of three days of on-ice practices from September 6-8 and will conclude with the annual Rookie Game vs. the Washington Capitals which is scheduled for Monday, September 9 at 4pm at the Kettler Capitals IcePlex in Arlington, Virginia. That game will be webcast on the Flyers website, philadelphiaflyers.com.

The Flyers will open their main training camp at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Thursday, September 12 through Saturday, September 14 before getting into their preseason schedule September 15 and then eventually heading to Lake Placid, NY for the continuation of their camp from September 19-23. The Flyers main training camp will involve even more players from last year's Phantoms team including some who also saw time with the Flyers such as Jason Akeson, Brandon Manning, Tye McGinn and Oliver Lauridsen.

Phantoms players will arrive in Glens Falls the week of September 23 in preparation for the season. Adirondack will play a preseason game at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Saturday, September 28 against the Albany Devils and then will travel for a preseason game at the Utica Comets on September 29.

Opening Night at the Glens Falls Civic Center is Saturday, October 12 against the Hartford Wolf Pack.
