Series Preview: Pride v. Rebellion

Kissimmee, FL - The USSSA Florida Pride and the Pennsylvania Rebellion will meet again for the second match-up this season. The two-game series is set for Friday July 3rd and Saturday July 4th and will be played at the Lucas County Recreation Center in Maumee, OH. This series marks the second of four to be played between the Pride and Rebellion this season.

After a four-game series against the Chicago Bandits, the Pride leave Rosemont, IL and head to Maumee, OH with a 10-6 regular season record. They are currently 2.5 games behind the Chicago Bandits for first. The Rebellion, whose last series was against the Pride in York and Lancaster, PA, currently have a 5-14 record.

Pride Players to Watch:

Jordan Taylor - has a 1-1 record with 4 saves. When the Pride and Rebellion faced each other last, Taylor threw 3 K's in just 2 innings pitched during game one. She currently has a league leading .60 ERA and has totaled 19 K's in 11.2 innings pitched.

GiOnna DiSalvatore - went 3-5 against the Rebellion in the first game of the two-game set. She's currently batting .326 with 4 RBI and 2 HR.

Team Pitching - The Pride pitchers currently lead the league after collectively punching a 2.04 ERA, totaling 132 K's and allowing only 79 hits in 15 games.

Rebellion Players to Watch:

Samie Garcia - Her .350 batting average with 4 RBI is ranked 6th in the league. Garcia's four doubles ties her for second in the league alongside teammate Alexa Peterson.

Dallas Escobedo - Managed five strikeouts in six innings during game one of the two-game series against the Pride. Her 29 total strikeouts are 3rd in the league.

Emily Weiman - is ranked fourth in the league behind teammate Dallas Escobedo with 28 K's. She fanned a combined 9 batters in just 7.1 innings throughout the two-game series.

Fun Facts:

- The last time the Pride played the Rebellion, the two-game series combined for a total of 21 innings.

- The Lucas County Recreation Center is a sports and entertainment complex located on the site of former horse race track Maumee Downs. It opened its doors in 1929 when it became the first track in the country to install a lighting system and hold night sessions of harness racing.

- Brigette Del Ponte will miss this series as she is playing for Team Mexico in the World Cup.

- On April 30, Pride rookie Lauren Chamberlain hit a grand slam against North Texas for her 91st career HR, breaking former UCLA slugger Stacey Nuveman's NCAA career record of 90. Two months later, she was nominated for an ESPY award for Best Record Breaking Performance. If she wins, she'll be the 1st college athlete to take home the honor since the award was introduced in 2001. She'll be in attendance when the award is announced in Los Angeles on July 15th.
