Pride Fall to Bandits in Double Header

August 7, 2019 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) - USSSA Pride News Release

VIERA, FL. (August 3, 2019) -The Pride start where they left off before the weather rolled in to halt last night's game. After the completion of game one tonight, the Pride faced the bandits in a double header to end the series.

Game 1

Jailyn Ford started the game in the circle for the Pride.

Sydney Romero connected for a single that scored Alex Powers in the bottom of the second for the first run of the game.

Before the weather delay Pride were leading 2-0 in the top of the third.

Jailyn Ford had 2 strikeouts before being relieved by Megan Good in the top of the third inning.

Megan Good continued the game for the Pride to start where the rain halted them in the top of the third inning.

Jessica Burroughs came in to pitch in the top of sixth relieving Good, who had three strikeouts.

The Bandits hit a hot streak with their bats and Pride could not catch up. The final score of Game 1 of the double header was 10-2.

The RIP-IT Sports Player of the game was Holly Wagner. She had two strikeouts to end the game for the Bandits.

Game 2

Jolene Henderson made the start for the Pride in Game 2.

Sydney Romero hit a double to start the second game off with a bang.

Henderson created a double play to end the top of the second.

Megan Good hit a single to drive home Emily Carosone for the first run of the second game.

Shay Knighten had a sacrifice fly out to get RBI in the bottom of the second.

It was a back and fourth battle between the Pride and the Bandits.

A big collision at home plate with Bandits pitcher obstructing the plate while Jessie Warren tried to score.

It was a heated conversation between head coach Gerry Glasco and the home plate umpire, but after an umpire meeting it was ruled that it was obstruction and Warren's run did count.

Allexis Bennett scored on an error when she stole third base.

Henderson had one strikeout in the game for the Pride. Jailyn Ford relieved Henderson in the top of the seventh inning.

Ford had two strikeouts in relieve for the Pride.

The final score of the game, after 8 innings of play was 4-3 in favor of the Bandits.

The RIP-IT Sports Player of the game was Abbey Cheek of the Chicago Bandits. She hit a single to score the go ahead run to win the game.
