Chippewa Steel News Release

(Chippewa Falls, WI) - Tonight the Chippewa Steel begin a three game weekend series vs the Kenai River Brown Bears.

Despite a tough loss last weekend where Chippewa fell 3-0 to Kenai River, tonight they look to take back important points in their division. Last Friday the Steel outshot the Brown Bears 46-31 but struggled to find the back of the net.

Tonight, they hope to bounce back and get their first win of the season. The Steel had seven of their ten top scorers move on from last season and will rely on their returning players to lead the way. With the depth they have on the roster this season, they are looking to every player to contribute on the score sheet.

The Steel will also have to solve Brown Bear goaltender Luke Pavicich who boasted a 46 save shutout in last Fridays game if they want to have success tonight. Chippewa goaltender Grant Boldt only allowed two goals in the last matchup and will need a strong performance in net to ensure a victory for the Steel.

The puck drops tonight at 7:10 pm at the Chippewa Area Ice Arena to start the three game series. Limited tickets are available at chippewasteelhockey.com.

The Chippewa Steel are members of the NAHL which is the oldest and largest junior hockey league of its kind in the United States and one of only two USA Hockey-certified leagues that operate under the non-pay-to-play model. The NAHL is also one of the best at advancing players to NCAA and professional hockey. Notable Alumni of the NAHL include Ryan Suter (MIN), Patrick Kane (CHI) and Phil Kessel (ARI) All league games are viewable via HockeyTV. For more information, visit chippewasteelhockey.com.
