The Lincoln Saltdogs got a solid outing from starting pitcher Jim Paduch and rode it to a 2-1 win and the 2009 American Association Championship. Paduch allowed one run and scattered nine hits in 5 2/3 innings to earn the win. With the victory, Paduch completed the postseason a perfect 3-0. Lincoln's bullpen did a great job as well, allowing just two hits while striking out four in the game's final 3 1/3 innings. Saltdogs closer Chris Thompson was responsible for the last two frames. He retired six of the seven batters he faced to earn his third save of the postseason. Lincoln RF Rafael Alvarez had a nice game at the plate, going 2-for-2 while 3B Brandon Jones and 2B Shea McFeely each chipped in with two hits as well. DH Argelis Nunez drove in the Saltdogs' first run with a RBI single in the first inning. C Shawn McGill drove in the second with a sacrifice fly to right field in the sixth inning that gave Lincoln a 2-0 lead. The Pelicans managed a run in the bottom of the sixth to close the gap to 2-1, but it wasn't enough as Lincoln held on to claim the crown.
