Senft Nets Renegades Job

July 24, 2008 - SPHL (SPHL)
Richmond Renegades News Release

The Richmond Renegades today announced that goalie RYAN SENFT will be back in nets for the team this upcoming season. In addition, the team announced that forward ANDRE GILL would not return as he had signed a contract to play in Holland next season. It was further disclosed that popular internet play by play announcer, JOHN EMMETT, would be returning for the 2008-09 season.

SENFT played a major role for the Renegades last season and was a mainstay when the team set a SPHL league record 12 consecutive wins. In the regular season SENFT led the league in minutes played (2,011) and posted an 18-14-1 record. His 18 wins were one short of leading the SPHL in that category. He also posted 2 shutouts, one of which was in Knoxville (3-0) against the league champion IceBears. He had a goals against average (GAA) of 3.13 and a save percentage of .907.

SENFT was twice selected as the SHER-WOOD SPHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK for the weeks ending January 25, 2008 and March 8, 2008. He was also honored as the SHER-WOOD SPHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH for January when he posted an 8-1 record with a 2.27 GAA and save percentage of .927.

"I am very pleased to have Ryan back in nets this season," stated Brian Goudie, Renegades head coach and director of hockey operations. "Last season he showed some of the skills needed to go to the next level and we are hoping for big things from him and for him this season. I really appreciate the effort put forth by his agent, Dale Oberg, in helping Ryan make his decision to return to Richmond."

The Renegades noted that their leading goal scorer (33) from last season, fan favorite winger ANDRE GILL, had signed a contract to play next season in Holland. This will be the second time the team has lost their top goal scorer to a European team. Forward Danny White left the team in their second season to play in Europe.

Play by play announcer JOHN EMMETT, who is extremely popular with the fans for his factual and extremely professional on air skills, will be returning to handle the same duties next season. It had been thought that Emmett, who is employed full time with the AAA Richmond Braves, would be leaving with the team. However, he will be remaining in Richmond.
