Semi-Final Notes: Victoriaville Vs. Saint John

During the 2009/10 season, these two teams played each other twice and, on each occasion, the Visiting Team won, thus splitting the series.

Those two games were played early in the season, even before the first ground frost in the fall.

- VICTORIAVILLE -

- On the power play during the regular season, the 'Tigres' are second in the QMJHL (25.6%) while during playoffs, they post the best efficiency in the League (34.8%).

- Best penalty kill in the League for the 2009/10 season (85.8%) and it keeps showing during playoffs as Yanick Jean's group shows a 93% efficiency in 10 playoff games.

- Since February 1st, the 'Tigres' have a 12-3 record in regular season and 8-2 in playoffs for a total of 20 wins and 5 losses and a percentage of 80%.

- The Captain, Philip-Michael Devos, already has 16 points in ten post-season games. Just remember that he concluded the regular season with 93 points, a mere three points behind the QMJHL Leader, Sean Couturier (DRU).

- Travis McIsaac has tallied at least one point in each of his ten playoff games in 2010. This sequence is currently the best in the QMJHL Playoffs.

- Goaltender Kevin Poulin has been spectacular and efficient since the beginning of playoffs with an average of 1.86 GA and a .943 efficiency on shots. He is pursuing what he began during the regular season where he was selected on the second All-Star team.

- As is the case with Saint John, the 'Tigres' won their last seven playoff games (three against Shawinigan and four against Quebec).

- SAINT JOHN -

- Saint John won the regular season championship, thanks to a 109-point harvest.

- The Sea Dogs went through an extraordinary sequence of 22 consecutive wins between October 17th and December 12th, during which they scored 107 goals and allowed only 44.

- Forward Mike Hoffman was handed the Michel Brière Trophy as the most efficient player during the 2009/10 regular season. It is the most prestigious individual award in the League. Other nominees were Gabriel Dumont and Cape Breton's Luke Adam.

- Michael Kirkpatrick has already gathered 17 point in nine playoff games. He shares the top rank of playoff scorers with Gabriel Dumont (DRU) and Jordan Caron (ROU).

- Rookie Jonathan Huberdeau has scored nine goals in these playoffs, four of which were winning goals for his team.

- The Sea Dogs' Goaltender, Marco Cousineau in winning games during the series. Since he joined the QMJHL, he played 32 playoff games and won 22 of them. These 22 wins place him in 12th position in the QMJHL history and his next win will allow him to join Martin Biron and Marc Denis with 23 wins. The League record is 38 playoff wins and it belongs to Roberto Luongo followed by Robert Desjardins (30) and Emmanuel Fernandez (29).
