
Sellout Crowd Sees St. Louis Cardinals Play at AutoZone Park

MEMPHIS, Tennessee - The 20th baseball season in AutoZone Park history began with a 6-3 win by the St. Louis Cardinals over the Memphis Redbirds in front of a sellout crowd of 10,442 Monday night during a "Battle of the Birds" exhibition game.
Marcell Ozuna hit a three-run home run for St. Louis, and Tyler O'Neill was 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Dylan Carlson also had two hits and a double for St. Louis.
Four different Redbirds had a hit Monday night, and Adolis Garcia had an RBI double in the first inning.
Two former Redbirds started on the mound Monday night, with Adam Wainwright taking the ball for Memphis' team and Michael Wacha starting for St. Louis. Both worked 4.0 innings.
The night began with a 2018 Triple-A National Championship ring ceremony, as members of the Redbirds and Cardinals who participated in Memphis' record-setting 2018 season received their rings in front of an adoring crowd.
The Redbirds are hosting a free Fan Fest at AutoZone Park on Saturday from 3-6:00 p.m., with the event culminating with autographs with the 2019 Redbirds. Opening Night for the two-time defending Pacific Coast League champion and 2018 Triple-A National Champion Redbirds is Thursday, April 4.
