December 7, 2011 - Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL)
Danbury Whalers News Release

Fans attending the third straight Cape Cod Bluefins and Danbury Whalers game at the Ice Arena weren't quite sure what to expect. The teams had split the first two games, Danbury winning 9-2 on Saturday while Cape Cod took Sunday 5-4. Tonight, Chris Seifert put on an offensive display, scoring four times to give the Whalers a 7-4 victory before 1,016 fans.

Seifert got a fortuitous deflection for his first goal of the night, as Danbury took the lead at 13:03 of the first with assists going to Greg Holt and Alec Kirschner. Cape Cod tied the game in the second on Luke Frey's snapshot and Anthony Sarno made it 2-1 for the Bluefins. Alec Kirschner tied the game at 14:40 of the period on his 12th goal of the season, unassisted on the power play. Seifert gave the Whalers the lead from Brett Dickinson, making his Whalers debut, at 15:59, while Kirschner set up Seifert to complete the hat trick at 17:34. Dan Gordon cut the lead to 4-3 before the second period ended. Former NHL forward Billy Tibbets tied the game at 4, but Seifert scored the game winner at 6:05 from Kirschner and Holt. Lucas Schott got his second of the season ten seconds later to make it 6-4. Kirschner added an empty net goal at 19:35 from Seifert to end the scoring. There was one fight, as Whaler forward Devin Guy defeated David Lun after the empty net goal. Joey Spagnoli stopped 29 of 33 shots to earn his first professional victory.

The Whalers conclude this homestand as they welcome the 1000 Islands Privateers on Friday night for a 7:35 start. Tickets are available for this week and all upcoming Whalers games. Get your tickets by visiting thedanburywhalers.com or by calling 973-713-7547.
