ALBANY, N.Y. - Coming off a dominating performance on Saturday night, the Binghamton Senators would get off to a strong start in Albany Sunday afternoon, taking a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. However, the Devils rebounded with three goals in the second period en route to a 4-2 victory over the B-Sens.
Pat Cannone got things started for the B-Sens as he scored his 12th goal of the year at 7:01 of the first assisted by Mark Borowiecki and Stephane Da Costa. Borowiecki added a goal of his own at the 15:47 mark, assisted by Cannone and Eric Gryba.
Mike Sislo cut the B-Sens lead in half with his eighth goal of the year at 4:55 of the second. With a little over five minutes left in the period the Devils tied the game up with a power play tally from Steve Zalewski. Less than three minutes later Vladimir Zharkov scored his first of two goals of the night to give the Devils the lead that would last the night. Brad Mills and Mattias Tedenby assisted on the play.
As the B-Sens tried to tie the game back up at three and possibly force overtime, Mike McKenna was pulled from the net for an extra attacker in the final minute of play. Vladimir Zharkov would score on the empty net to secure the win for Albany.
Binghamton ended the game 0-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
Mike McKenna made 35 saves as he fell to 13-15-0 on the season. His counterpart Keith Kinkaid made 27 saves to improve to 14-13-1.
