Seattle Sea Dragons News Release

The Seattle Sea Dragons traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to take on the Vegas Vipers in a windy Week 3 matchup. Seattle received the opening kickoff, but the Vipers' defense looked to make a stand early after forcing QB Ben DiNucci to fumble on their first offensive series which was recovered by LB C.J Avery.

The Vipers capitalized off the turnover after QB Brett Hundley spotted WR Jeff Badet in the end zone for a 12-yard touchdown pass, giving the first points to the Vipers and a 6-0 lead following the failed 2-point conversion. A few series later, the Sea Dragons tied up the game at 6-6 after DiNucci found WR Blake Jackson (his first touchdown reception of the season) for a 26-yard touchdown pass to cap off a 7-play, 91 yard drive, but failed to complete the three-point conversion.

In the second quarter, both teams exchanged field goals with a 39-yard field goal by K Bailey Giffen and a 34-yard field goal by K Dominik Eberle, tying the game at 9-9 going into halftime.

Heading into the second half, the Vipers offense started off the quarter with an explosive 56-yard pass to Badet where Hundley cleaned up the drive with a 6-yard touchdown run, taking the lead right back to 17-9 after a successful 2-point conversion to WR Martavis Bryant. On the first offensive series for the Sea Dragons in the second half, DiNucci threw an interception to DB Adam Sparks, leading to a 47-yard field goal by Giffen to increase the Vipers lead to 20-9. The Sea Dragons responded with a 16-yard touchdown pass to WR Josh Gordon from DiNucci, trimming the lead to 20-15 following the missed 3-point conversion.

As the fourth quarter rolled around, Eberle cut the Vipers lead to 20-18 after tacking on a 32-yard field goal. On the next series, the Vipers looked to pull away after Hundley converted a 50-yard touchdown pass to RB John Lovett, pushing the lead to 26-18 after a missed two-point conversion. The Sea Dragons came roaring back on their next series after DiNucci darted a 22-yard touchdown pass to WR Juwan Green (his first touchdown reception of the season) to cut the lead to 26-24 after failing to convert another three-point conversion. After forcing the Vipers to punt on their next series, DiNucci found Gordon deep downfield for a 65-yard touchdown pass (his second touchdown reception of the game) to convert a fourth down and to take a late 30-26 lead after missing a 3-point conversion. The Vipers looked to make one last heroic comeback, but fell short after a failed fourth down conversion, sealing the first victory of the season for the Seattle Sea Dragons.

The Seattle Sea Dragons will return to Lumen Field next Saturday to take on the San Antonio Brahmas.
