
Season High Attendance at Knoxville & Winston-Salem last week

The Knoxville Ice Bears and Winston-Salem T-Birds saw their largest home crowds of the South East Hockey League season last Saturday (31st). In Knoxville, the Ice Bears celebrated "Pride in America Night" and 4142 packed the Knoxville Civic Center. In the "twin city" of Winston-Salem, the T-Birds "NASCAR Night" drew a season high of 1550 to the Joel Coliseum Annex.
On the ice, the Huntsville Channel Cats extended their lead in the SEHL to 24 points over second place Winston-Salem. The playoff race for the other two playoff spots continues to heat up. Winston-Salem begins the week with 32 points while Cape Fear & Knoxville each has 28 points with seven weeks left in the regular season.
SEHL Player of the Week
The Cape Fear Fire Antz David Bagley is the South East Hockey League Player of the Week. Bagley, from Rochester, New York scored five goals and added two assists for seven points in three games. He tallied a hat trick against Winston-Salem on January 30th. On the year, in 26 SEHL games, Bagley has scored 18 goals and 17 assists for 35 points. He also played in 10 games this season for the ECHL Florence Pride.
SEHL Goaltender of the Week
Kevin Fines from the Cape Fear Fire Antz is the South East Hockey League Goaltender of the Week. The Listawel, Ontario native stopped 95 of 108 shots on goal last week, winning two of three. Since joining the Fire Antz from Lubbock of the CHL, he has posted a record of 7-3 with a 2.99 goals against average, 1 shutout, and a 91.2% save percentage.
Other SEHL Top Performers
Winston-Salem's Frantisek Bakrlik scored six goals and added an assist for seven points last week.
Allan Carr of the Huntsville Channel Cats scored four goals and three assists. Carr leads the SEHL in goals with 36.
Cape Fear Defensemen Scott Young, Rob Vessio, and Dave Leger combined for 15 points in three games last week. Young (1g-6a), Vessio (4a), Leger (1g-3a).
Upcoming Team Promotions
Thursday, February 5th: The Knoxville Ice Bears present "College & Carload Night". Pile as many people as you can into one car for $20. Two-for-one beverage and food specials.
Thursday, February 5th: The Winston-Salem T-Birds present "Thirsty Thursday". 12 ounce beverage specials for only $1.00. It is also "Boy Scouts Night". All Boy Scouts dressed in their uniform will receive free admission.
Friday, February 6th: The Huntsville Channel Cats present "Shaker Night" sponsored by Bill Heard Chevrolet. The first 1500 fans will receive a free Channel Cats "Shaker".
Saturday, February 7th: The Winston-Salem T-Birds present "Girl Scouts Night". All Girl Scouts dressed in their uniform will receive free admission. After the game fans can "Skate with the T-Birds".
Saturday, February 14th: The Cape Fear Fire Antz present "Operation Sellout II". The special night will feature an appearance by WWE wrestling personality Sgt. Slaughter and the Fire Antz will be wearing special Valentine's Day jerseys which will be auctioned off following the game.
Monday, February 16th: The Huntsville Channel Cats special "Nashville Predators Promotion".
Anyone purchasing a ticket to the Sunday, February 15th Nashville vs. Edmonton game will receive a free ticket to the Monday Channel Cats game vs. Knoxville.
"The British Are Coming"
BBC Television will be filming during the Winston-Salem T-Birds home game this coming Saturday night (February 7th).The BBC will be in Winston-Salem filming a program about Krispy Kreme doughnuts (based in Winston-Salem).
"Miracle" with the Channel Cats
The Huntsville Channel Cats are holding a special promotion in conjunction with the release of the new Disney movie "Miracle". The Channel Cats will be in attendance at the Regal Cinema Hollywood 18 Theatre this coming Saturday for the 1:35PM matinee showing. Anyone attending this special showing will also receive a free ticket to the Channel Cats home game on Sunday, February 22nd vs. Cape Fear.
