San Diego Seals News Release
The San Diego Seals took down the Panther City Lacrosse Club, 12-10, on Saturday night at Pechanga Arena to extend their lead atop the West Division.
"That was closer than we wanted but that's a win," said Seals General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. "We had a strong first half and I thought we were playing really well. We took our foot off the gas, took some bad penalties and let them get back into the game a little, but a win is a win in this league."
A valiant first half, the Seals scored nine goals in the first two frames to jump out to an early lead. Panther City inched their way back into the contest in the second half, but ultimately could not complete the comeback. Assistant captain Cam Holding took a page out of Brodie Merrill's book, scoring a full-field goal to seal the deal in the fourth quarter.
Seals forwards Wesley Berg, Dane Dobbie and Austin Staats all netted hat tricks in the victory. Forward Curtis Dickson led the Seals offense with six points, while goaltender Chris Origlieri made 42 stops on 52 shots.
The San Diego Seals return home on Friday, February 17 to host the Saskatchewan Rush at Pechanga Arena. Reserve your seats today at SealsLax.com.
