Seals to Host First Round Playoff Game on Friday May 5

The San Diego Seals will host the first round playoff game at Pechanga Arena San Diego on May 5th at 7 pm PT. Here's everything fans need to know for this exciting night:

The NLL will be utilizing an eight-team playoff format, showcasing the top four teams from the East Conference and the top three from the West. A wild card will make up the eighth spot, being filled by the team with the best record between the fifth-place team in the East Conference and the fourth-place team in the West. Whoever is declared the 2022-23 wild card will be the #4 seed in the West Conference side of the bracket.

The first round of the playoffs across the league will take place the weekend of May 5-7th. It will be a single elimination match. The ensuing Conference Finals and NLL Finals will both be best-of-three. The first two games of the NLL Finals will take place during Memorial Day weekend, with the potential third game being played the first weekend of June.

Last year, the Seals made a deep playoff run, eventually falling to the Colorado Mammoth in game three of the West Conference finals. This year, with a stacked roster and best franchise record, the team is hungry for redemption and has set themselves up for a successful postseason. The Seals have upheld the best record in the West Conference for the entirety of the 2022-23 campaign.

After having clinched playoffs last season, the Seals were heading into the West Devision semifinals having lost six of their last seven games. This year, they enter as reigning first place team with only three losses sprinkled throughout the season. Regardless, playoffs are a clean slate and a new beginning for each team that qualifies, notwithstanding their regular season record.
