
Seals Continue to Lead the Way
November 25, 2002 - Atlantic Coast Hockey League 2 (ACHL 2) News Release
The holiday week will make for lots of hockey action in the ACHL with nine games on the schedule. The St. Pete Parrots have an important three game "home stand" this week as they look to move up in the standings. And both the Knoxville Ice Bears and Jacksonville Barracudas will play two games at home this week.
The Orlando Seals continue in first place in the ACHL with 20 points in the standings. Tony Martino's Knoxville Ice Bears are in second place, three points out of first, with 17 points. The St. Pete Parrots continue in third with 14 points while the Macon Trax are in fourth place with 12 points.
The Seals Zac Boyer is the ACHL's leading scorer with 11 goals & 22 assists, good for 33 points in 14 games. St. Pete's Janis Tomans is the leading goal scorer in the league with 14 goals in 14 games. And St. Pete's Dan McIntyre is the leading goaltender in the league with a 1.80 goals against average and 94.7% save percentage in 9 games played.
ACHL Player of the Week:
Jamie Miller of the Jacksonville Barracudas is the Atlantic Coast Hockey League Player of the Week. The native of Regina, Saskatchewan scored three goals and added an assist in the Barracudas 7-1 win over Knoxville on 11/23.
ACHL Goaltender of the Week:
Nathan Grobins of the Jacksonville Barracudas is the Atlantic Coast Hockey League Goaltender of the Week. Grobins posted back-to-back victories over St. Pete and Knoxville on 11/22 & 11/23. Grobins shutout the Parrots on 11/22, stopping all 27 shots in the 2-0 victory. And he stopped 33 of 34 shots the following night in the Barracudas 7-1 win over the Ice Bears.
