SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs have been eliminated from the 2015 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs after a 7-4 loss to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in Game 5 of their best-of-seven first-round match-up.

Maxime St-Cyr led the Baie-Comeau offence with a hat trick while Jeremy Gregoire contributed two goals and two assists. Luca Ciampini and Vaclav Karabacek also scored.

Nathan Noel potted three goals for Saint John while Mark Tremaine added one.

The Drakkar won the series 4-1, and have advanced to the second round.

A complete scoring summary is available HERE.

The Drakkar struck first just over three minutes into the game when Gregoire took a pass in the right circle, got in front of the net and chipped a low shot between the legs of Sebastien Auger.

Five minutes later, Gregoire sent a high dump-in into the Sea Dogs' zone that bounced to the left of Auger and went behind the net. The puck came out quickly to the right of the goalie where Ciamipini banked it off the netminder and in.

It became 3-0 with four minutes left in the first period when St-Cyr deflected a shot from the right point between Auger's legs.

Noel got Saint John back within two goals with a power play marker just a minute-and-a-half later.

The St. John's-native took a pass from Luke Green in the left circle and ripped a wrist shot past the glove of Drakkar goalie Philippe Cadorette.

Baie-Comeau restored a three-goal lead with a power play goal of its own ninety seconds into the second period.

A Saint John clearing play from the front of the net was knocked down by Frederic Gamelin near the top of the right circle. The overage forward fed a pass across to Gregoire, who snapped a one-timer beyond Auger's blocker for his second goal of the game.

The Sea Dogs cut into their deficit with another power play goal near the halfway mark of the period.

Cadorette made an initial stop on a long shot, and robbed Noel on a rebound attempt to his right. Tremaine snuck into the crease area, found the loose puck, and wristed it inside the right post to make it a 4-2 game.

Penalties put the Drakkar on a 5-on-3 power play a short time later, and Baie-Comeau took over on the scoreboard with a pair of goals.

During the brief two-man advantage, St-Cyr finished off a give-and-go with Gregoire by sending a slap shot from the left circle past Auger's glove.

Twenty-seven seconds later, Jasmin Boutet found Karabacek streaking to the net. The Czech winger took the pass in the low slot and tucked the puck inside the left post to make it 6-2.

Noel's second of the game came on a short breakaway, when the slick centre used a deke to score through Cadorette's legs with two-and-a-half minutes remaining in the period.

St-Cyr finished off his three goal performance with a power play goal under three minutes into the third.

Ciampini intercepted a clearing play around the right wing boards by Auger and fed the puck in front of the net where St-Cyr steered it inside the right post.

Noel's hat-trick goal came with fewer than two minutes remaining, as he buried a shot from the right wing side following a 2-on-1 feed from Tremaine.

Saint John could not get any closer on the scoreboard.

Cadorette earned the win in goal with 18 saves. Auger took the loss with 38 stops.

Gregoire's four points made him first star while St-Cyr's three-goal game gave him second star. Noel's three goals and four points merited a third-star selection in front of 2,523 fans in attendance.

The game proved to be the final one in the major junior careers of Auger, Tremaine and Justice Dundas, all of whom received ovations from the crowd at Harbour Station as they left the ice.
