Sea Dogs bounce back with 5-2 win

SHAWINIGAN, Monday, May 21, 2012 - Zack Phillips scored two goals and Charlie Coyle provided two helpers to lead the Sea Dogs to a 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings in game four of the 2012 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
The Sea Dogs opened the scoring at 4:23. Zack Phillips directed a shot from the side end boards which caught Edmonton Oil Kings goaltender completely by surprise. The Oil Kings tied the scoring on the power-play at 7:03 off a tipped shot by Kristians Pelss.
The Sea Dogs' second goal came at 4:42 of the next frame. Charlie Coyle led Jonathan Huberdeau on a breakaway with a sensational pass from his own blue-line. Huberdeau made no mistake with a nifty left to right move to put Saint John up 2-1.
The end to end action went back and forth with both goaltenders making some solid saves until Danick Gauthier tipped a Charlie Coyle shot behind Brossoit at 15:53 to put Saint John up 3-1. The Oil Kings didn't take too long to get it back. Stephane Legault recorded his first marker of the tournament just over a minute later. Saint John took a 3-2 advantage into the second break.
The Sea Dogs had two great opportunities to extend their lead but they failed to register a goal on two breakaway chances.
Nevertheless, the defending MasterCard Memorial Cup champions registered two more goals in the last two minutes of play to seal the win.
Charlie Coyle was named the game's first star.
Game five of the 2012 MasterCard Memorial Cup goes tomorrow as the London Knights battle the Edmonton Oil Kings live on Sportsnet and TVA Sports starting at 7 pm ET.
