New Mexico Scorpions News Release
[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-As the Scorpions continue to sign players and get themselves ready on the ice for the upcoming season, the front office is also gearing up with some changes of their own. Dan Boutureira has arrived while Amy DeGroot has moved to the American Hockey League (AHL).
Boutureira joins the Scorpions after spending the past three seasons with the Houston Aeros in the AHL. With the Aeros, Boutureira led the group sales department and also was very involved with youth hockey in the Houston area.
"I look forward to the chance to help the Scorpions organization grow and become one of the best in minor league hockey," said Boutureira.
Prior to joining the Aeros the Mountain Lakes, N.J. native spent time with the Canton Coyotes baseball team and Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL. He also was a student manager for Miami (Ohio) University, the same school that Scorps owner Brain Savage attended. He is joined in New Mexico by his fiancée Angie.
DeGroot leaves the Scorpions to return home to Austin and work for the new Texas Stars. The Stars will become the top affiliate for the Dallas Stars when they take the ice in October 2009.
"We wish Amy the best of luck and know she is excited for the chance to work in the AHL and be in her hometown," said Gary Gelinas, Scorpions President/GM. "Dan brings with him a wealth of group sales experience and should help us accomplish the goals we have set for the coming season"
