New Mexico Scorpions News Release

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-The New Mexico Scorpions are proud to announce the organization has been recognized off the ice by the Rotary Club. The Scorpions were recently named the "Rotary Club of Rio Rancho, Business of the Year."

The hockey team became the third local business to win this honor since 2005. By winning the award at the local level, the Scorpions are also being considered for the "Sonny Brown Business of the Year Award" which is a district level Rotary Club award for all of New Mexico and parts of west Texas .

"The entire organization thanks the Rio Rancho Rotarians for bestowing this award upon us," said Scorpions general manager Rick Carden. "We take pride in the work we do off the ice in the community and look forward to doing even more work in the coming years."

Ethics and integrity within the business, customer service, treating of employees, how the business represents its service and how the management and employees give back to the local community are the five factors nominated businesses are judged on.

"Rio Rancho became home of the Scorpions in the fall of 2006 and it was evident from day one that the New Mexico Scorpions main priorities, other than playing hockey, was community service," said Joel A. Sherman, Vocational Service Chairman for Rotary Club of Rio Rancho. "It was obvious that Rio Rancho was going to benefit from such a civic minded organization."

On April 22nd, the Scorpions will be formally honored at the Rotary Club of Rio Rancho meeting. Members of the Scorpions staff will be on hand to accept this award at Chamisa Hills County Club at noon.

Season tickets for the 2008-09 season are now on sale. Ticket prices are now more affordable than ever. Call the Scorpions' office at (505) 881-PUCK (7825) or visit www.scorpionshockey.com to find out how you can be a part of Real Hockey, Rio Entertainment.
