Rockford Thunder News Release

ROCKFORD - The Rockford Thunder has signed pitcher Cassidy Scoggins, team General Manager Aaron M. Moore announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

Scoggins, 22, is entering her second season with the Thunder. During her rookie season, Scoggins appeared in 11 games, 10 out of the bullpen, and finished the season with a 4-0 record. She was third on the team with a .239 ERA and third on the team with a .211 batting average against.

"It's an honor to re-sign with the Thunder for the 2008 season," said Scoggins. "We were close last season and I feel like we'll be there again next season. It's going to be an exciting season."

In addition to re-signing with the Thunder, Scoggins has also decided to make the move permanently to Rockford, joining Kristen Zaleski and Jamie Davison. She will move into town during the first week of January and will begin giving lessons during the second week.

"I'm excited to make the move to Rockford and help the team out in the off-season," stated Scoggins. "I saw what an impact we have on the young players in the community and I look forward to providing that on a more consistent basis."
