Schaumburg Falls 2-0 in Pitcher's Duel with Gary

Schaumburg Flyers News Release
Schaumburg, IL - Schaumburg skipper Mike Busch skipped over Alain Quijano to start off the year. An off day meant he could go with a four man rotation, so the southpaw had to wait until tonight to get his first start of the season.
Quijano certainly made the most of it, but the Pilots (2-7) came up just short against the Gary Southshore Railcats (4-6) at Alexian Field. The Schaumburg pitching staff combined to allow just two runs on five hits, led by Quijano's eight inning performance. The lefty made one mistake the entire night: a fastball on the inner part of the plate that Gary designated hitter Jeff Beachum crushed over the left field wall for a two run home run.
Joshua Giles came in for Quijano and tossed a strong ninth inning, setting the Railcats hitters down in order with two strikeouts.
Yet, Gary's pitching was just that much better. Starter Ryan Zink was phenomenal, racking up seven strikeouts in seven innings of work. Brad Furnish came on to throw a scoreless eighth and closer Andy Shipman finished things up to earn his third save of the year.
The Pilots play the rubber match with the Railcats tomorrow afternoon at 1:20 PM at Alexian Field. It's Family Day at the ballpark, so bring the whole family out! Kids have the opportunity to run the bases after the game and meet the Pilots for autographs.
As always tune into Alex Perlman and Chris Lobosco on 1410 WRMN and flyersbaseball.com for complete coverage of the Pilots and Railcats. The Schaumburg Pilots Pregame Show gets going at 1:05 with first pitch slated for 1:20 PM.
