SBFC Welcomes FC Kansas City to Yurcak Field on Saturday Night

Piscataway, N.J. - Sky Blue FC (2-3-2, 8 points) will return to National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) action on Saturday night, hosting two-time defending NWSL champion FC Kansas City (1-4-2, 5 points) at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. Kickoff for the match is slated for 7:00 p.m. ET.

"The preparation for this weekend has gone very well over the past 10 days," said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. "We have been able to fine-tune some aspects of our game that will have us ready for a very good FC Kansas City team. We fully respect their club, but we know that we will get a positive outcome if we put in the type of performance that we are capable of giving."

Sky Blue FC enters Saturday night on the heels of a hard-fought 1-1 road result two weeks ago against the league-leading Chicago Red Stars, where first-year British international Leah Galton came off the bench to register her first professional goal in the form of a 72nd minute equalizer. In two matches as a substitute, Galton already has a goal and an assist in just 82 minutes of play.

FC Kansas City is coming off its first win of the 2016 campaign, a 2-0 result over the expansion Orlando Pride in Week 7 action. Midfielders Yael Averbuch and Erika Tymrak were responsible for the pair of goals in that home contest. On the road this season, FC Kansas City has dropped its only two games, both of which were shutouts.

Saturday night marks the first meeting of the season between these two clubs, with Sky Blue FC seeking its first-ever home win over FC Kansas City. The current series at Yurcak Field stands at 3-0-1 in their favor, with the all-time record currently at 4-2-2 in NWSL play.
