Alex Sangsuwangul completed a hat-trick with a stunning display of speed and technical finishing a minute from the final whistle at Lafayette Sports Club Arena this afternnon to earn FC Indiana a 6-5 win over Springfield Demize (Pro) and a step closer of the top spot in the Great Lakes Divison.
Sangsuwangul struck twice in the first half with two well placed right-foot drives only for Springfield Demize goalkeeper Armon Tonianse to attempt in making last second saves each time.
FC Indiana, needing to win to challenge in the battle for top place and a shot of the PASL-Premier Great Lakes Division title. But, in a dramatic finale, Sangsuwangul took on a driven pass forward from Chris Davies and powered in a near post goal of exquisite quality to move up in the standings and keep FC Indiana's title shot alive.
Sangsuwangul was typically modest afterwards as he reflected on his stunning winner. "I reveived the ball from Davies, controlled it on the run and I think it was a nice goal," he said.
"Springfield Demize is a team with experience and will make you pay on any mistake you make. They were very physical, very composed, very technical, that along with their runs on and off the ball as it showed when they equalized on every opportunity presented but after my third goal there was no time for them.
"It was a good win for the team, our supporters, and for me on a personal level as I always want to step off the field after the final whistle knowing I gave it my best."
