Published on May 1, 2007 under World TeamTennis (WTT) News Release

NEW YORK, N.Y. (May 1, 2007) - Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario's journey to her International Tennis Hall of Fame induction this summer will take a World TeamTennis detour through Boston.

Sanchez-Vicario, a former world No. 1 in both singles and doubles on the WTA Tour, will be joining the Boston Lobsters for one match on July 12. Two days later, Sanchez-Vicario will be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island.

Sanchez-Vicario is one of Spain's most decorated athletes. She captured three singles championships at Roland Garros (1989, 1994, 1998) and became the first Spanish woman to win the US Open singles crown in 1994. During her 18-year pro career, she won 29 singles titles and 67 doubles titles, including 14 Grand Slam championships - four singles, six doubles and four mixed doubles.

Sanchez-Vicario was the first Spanish player to hold the No. 1 spot simultaneously in singles and doubles (February 13, 1995), one of only four women to accomplish that feat. She played for 16 years on Spain's Fed Cup team and led Spain to five Fed Cup titles (1991, 1993- 95, 1998). Sanchez-Vicario also captured four Olympic medals (singles bronze and doubles silver in 1992; singles silver and doubles bronze in 1996).

Sanchez-Vicario previously played World TeamTennis in 1996 for the New York Buzz.

Tickets for the Sanchez-Vicario match are currently on sale at www.BostonLobsters.net or by calling 877-617-5627. The 2007 WTT regular season runs July 5-25 with the top two teams from both the Eastern and Western Conference advancing to the WTT Championship Weekend, July 27-29, in Roseville, Calif.

The Lobsters are in the Eastern Conference along with the Delaware Smash, New York Buzz, New York Sportimes and Philadelphia Freedoms. About WTT: Now in its 32nd year of play, World TeamTennis is well known for introducing innovative elements to tennis. Instant replay, which debuted at WTT matches in 2005 as the WTT Coaches Challenge, marked the first time the technology had been used in a professional tennis match, will return to select WTT matches in 2007. Other WTT firsts include co-ed format, cumulative and no-ad scoring, on-court coaching, Supertiebreakers, multi-colored courts and player names on back of their shirts.

The unique gender-balanced team concept for WTT was created in the early 70s by League co- founders Billie Jean King and Larry King. The format used for a WTT Pro League match features teams comprised of two men, two women and a coach. Each match consists of five sets, with one set each of men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles.

Advanta is the presenting sponsor of the WTT Pro League and the official business credit card of World TeamTennis. Official WTT Pro League sponsors also include Bälle de Mätch, FirmGreen, Gatorade, Geico and Wilson Racquet Sports. For more information on WTT including team rosters, visit www.WTT.com.
