San Jose wins third game of the season

EDMONTON - The San Jose Stealth defeated division rivals the Edmonton Rush by a score of 11- 9 Friday night at Rexall Place.

In the first quarter, goals by San Jose's Gary Rosyski and Luke Wiles helped the Stealth take a 2-1 lead over the Rush. At 2:51 of the second quarter San Jose's Jeff Zywicki scored the Stealth's third goal of the half giving them a 3-1 Edge. Edmonton wasn't about to back down though as they fired up their offence in the second and took control of the half as goals by Chris Gill, Dan Stroup, Ted Jenner, and Randy Daly pushed the Rush into a 6-3 lead entering halftime.

It was all Stealth in the third quarter as Jeff Zywicki and Colin Doyle each recorded their second point of the night bringing the Stealth back into the game and down by only one heading into the fourth quarter. At 0:34 of the final quarter, Stealth forward Andrew Burkholder scored his first goal of the evening, tying the game up at 6-6. The Stealth didn't back down either and kept the goals coming as they scored five more to pull the game right out of Edmonton's reach , taking the game 11-9. Chris Gill's second and third goals of the game on the power play at 10:14 and 14:52 and Dan Stroup's third goal at 13:37, all in the fourth quarter, were the only three scored in the second half for the Rush.

Luke Wiles led the Stealth with six points, one goal and five assists. Jeff Zywicki had five points, three goals and two assists. Gary Rosyski recorded four points, while Eric Martin chipped in three. Curtis Hodgson, Colin Doyle, Wes Green, Cam Sedgwick, and Andrew Burkholder all had two points each, and Darren Halls and Anthony Cosmo each recorded one.

Chris Gill and Dan Stroup led the Rush with four points each. Both with three goals and one assist. Randy Daly, Ryan O'Connor, Jimmy Quinlan and Jason Wulder each recorded three points, and Ted Jenner had two. Jamie Roy, Kevin Howard, and Andrew Turner all chipped in one.
