Giants Begin Three-Game Series Against Visalia Tonight The San Jose Giants continue their homestand this evening with the opener of a three-game series against the Visalia Rawhide at Municipal Stadium. D.J. Snelten (0-0, ---) is slated to make the start on the mound for the Giants in tonight's series opener. Snelten made eight starts with San Jose last season and was 0-4 with a 4.84 ERA. The former ninth round draft pick is making his 2016 season debut this evening.

Wet Weekend The Giants completed only one game of their season-opening four-game series against the Lancaster JetHawks last weekend due to wet weather. San Jose posted a 4-3 victory over Lancaster in the season opener last Thursday before Friday's game was suspended in the top of the fifth inning with the JetHawks leading by a 4-1 score. Scheduled games on Saturday and Sunday were postponed due to rain/unplayable field conditions. Make-up dates for the suspended game and postponed contests have yet to be determined. Lancaster is not scheduled to return to Municipal Stadium this season.

Rare Home Rainouts Prior to last weekend's rainouts, the last San Jose Giants home game to be postponed due to rain was on April 25, 2012 (vs. High Desert). The Giants did not have a single postponement - home or road - during the 2015 season.

Season-Opening Win Last Thursday's triumph over Lancaster was San Jose's first win on opening night since 2014 (7-1 victory at Rancho Cucamonga). Last year, the Giants dropped a 3-2 decision at Lancaster to begin the season. San Jose is 5-1 in their last six season-openers dating back to 2011.

Giants-Rawhide Matchup This series marks the first Giants-Rawhide match-up of the year. The two clubs will play each other 23 times this season (10 games at Municipal Stadium & 13 games at Recreation Park). Last year, San Jose went just 4-15 against Visalia during the regular season before knocking off the Rawhide in a thrilling North Division Series. The Giants rallied from an 0-2 series deficit last September earning walk-off victories over the visiting Rawhide in Games 3 and 4. San Jose then claimed the winner-take-all Game 5 in Visalia by a 6-5 score in 11 innings. All five games of the series were decided by one run while two of the contests went to extra innings.

San Francisco Affiliation This year is San Jose's 29th season as an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants - the longest current partnership of any team in the California League. Since their inception in 1988, the San Jose Giants have won six league championships (1998, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010), 11 North Division titles and qualified for the playoffs 21 times (in 28 seasons). The Giants enter this year having posted a league-record 12 consecutive winning seasons (2004-2015).

Top Prospects Seven players on San Jose's opening day roster are among the top 30 prospects in the San Francisco organization according to Baseball America: first baseman Chris Shaw (#5), pitcher Sam Coonrod (#6), catcher Aramis Garcia (#7), pitcher Andrew Suarez (#12), pitcher Jordan Johnson (#15), outfielder Ronnie Jebavy (#21) and outfielder Steven Duggar (#25).

Opponent Notes: Visalia Rawhide The Visalia Rawhide, an affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, swept a three-game series at Bakersfield to open the season. Visalia allowed a total of only four runs during the three-game set to the Blaze. Last year, the Rawhide finished with a league-best 84-56 record. J.R. House is in his second season as Visalia's manager. House was named California League Manager of the Year in 2015 after leading the Rawhide to first and second half North Division titles.
