San Diego meets a San Jose CyberRays team that is coming off of a 0-0 tie with the first place Philadelphia Charge, where goalkeeper LaKeysia Beene recorded her third shutout of the season. The Spirit's strong forward duo, Shannon MacMillan and Zhang Ouying will be looking to increase both of their three goal records on Sunday against the strong CyberRays defense. There will be a key match-up when San Diego defender Fan Yunjie and midfielder Shannon Boxx face San Jose's Brazilian attack, forward Katia and midfielder Sissi. With San Diego entering its first competition under new interim head coach Kevin Crow, the Spirit will attempt to record their first road win this season, while trying to end a two-game skid. The defending Founders Cup champions are currently riding a two-game unbeaten streak.

CYBERRAYS NOTES...

· San Jose will be looking for their second straight home win.

· The CyberRays have used six different lineups during the season.

· San Jose leads the league in total shots with 125.

· Thori Bryan is expected to increase her minutes played streak of 2,805 on Sunday, she has played in every minute

of every match for the CyberRays.

· The CyberRays currently rank second in league team defense, allowing only 1.00 goals per game.

SPIRIT NOTES...

· The Spirit has had one previous three-game losing streak in club history, 5/20-6/2/01.

· San Diego dropped its second straight match with a 2-0 loss to Atlanta.

· Shannon Boxx is expected to start her 30th consecutive match.

· The Spirit ended a two-game losing streak in San Jose last year on 7/25/01.

· San Diego is tied for second in team offense (1.71 goals per game) and fifth in team defense (1.57 goals per game).

· San Diego has used eight different lineups in 2002.
