San Diego Spirit Match Preview v New York
July 18, 2002 - Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA)
San Diego Spirit News Release
In search of their first road win, San Diego travels to New York without Shannon Boxx, who is serving a one-game red card suspension, and U.S. National Team players Joy Fawcett, Julie Foudy and Shannon MacMillan. Spirit head coach Kevin Crow will have to juggle his lineup once again attempting to gain a win against the Power, a team mired in an eight-game losing streak. New York's last win came on May 25 against the Spirit. San Diego has begun to find their offensive stride, but with Foudy (three goals in her last three games) and MacMillan (two goals in her last two games) out of the lineup, newcomer Julie Fleeting will have to extend her two-game point streak to give the Spirit a chance. Crow has not made a decision on whether Jaime Pagliarulo or Carly Smolak will start in goal.
