San Diego Spirit News Release

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Spirit improved to 2-0 on the preseason with an 8-0 victory over Cal State Fullerton on a wet and stormy Saturday afternoon at Torero Stadium. Free agent Jen Nielsen led the Spirit scoring attack with a hat trick against the Titans.

San Diego started the match slowly, but then had two quick strikes near the end of the half to jump-start their efforts. Flo Omagbemi knocked home a loose ball inside the Titans' box, after Amanda Cromwell's header was deflected. Nielsen added her first goal of match a few moments later to give the Spirit a 2-0 lead.

Allie Kemp-Sullivan continued her torrid preseason scoring by finding the back of the net twice. She used her speed down the left flank on both goals to set up her scoring chances, and then placing her shots into the far corner of the goal past the Titan goalkeeper. Nielsen provided San Diego with two more goals in the second half to complete her hat trick. Sherice Anders and Susan Bush also tallied goals for the Spirit in victory.

Erin Fahey and Shelley Finger patrolled the Spirit's goal, combining for the club's second consecutive shutout.

Quotes
