
San Diego Spirit & P.B. Buffalo Exchange to Present Charity Fashion Show

SAN DIEGO - The Pacific Beach Buffalo Exchange clothing store will present a charity fashion show and silent auction featuring San Diego spirit players and local celebrities as runway models on Sunday, March 30, 7:00 p.m. at the University of San Diego's Jenny Craig Pavilion. Proceeds from the event will benefit TOP Soccer and Kate Sessions Elementary School, located in Pacific Beach.
Spirit players, coaches, staff members, and various local participants, including Fox 6 personality Christina Russo will model Buffalo Exchange fashions. Audience members will be able to bid on the clothing that is being modeled. The show will conclude with the Spirit unveiling their new uniforms for the 2003 season.
Prior to the show, a silent auction displaying gifts from local businesses and the Spirit will be conducted. Some of the participating companies include Forever Fondue, 24 Hour Fitness, Coyote Café, Karl Strauss Breweries, Salon David Perez, GNC and Jamba Juice.
Proceeds from the show and auction will benefit TOP Soccer and Kate Sessions Elementary School in Pacific Beach. TOP Soccer is a 10-year-old community-based outreach program, developed, organized and administered by US Youth Soccer, the nation's largest sports organization. It provides the opportunity for any boy or girl with a mental or physical disability to play the game of soccer. Spirit captain Julie Foudy is spokesperson for the organization.
In addition to fashion show and silent auction, the Spirit will hold their first-ever Spring Cleaning Sale. This one-time event will allow fans to purchase authentic team apparel and gear from previous seasons.
Tickets for the fashion show are available with a donation of $10 at the Pacific Beach Buffalo Exchange store, located on the corner of Cass & Garnet streets or by calling the Spirit at 619-278-3186. Spirit season ticket holders can purchase tickets for only $5.
The San Diego Spirit is a charter member of the WUSA and plays their home matches at the 7,035-seat Torero Stadium on the campus of the University of San Diego. The Spirit kicks off their third season of action on April 5, against the Boston Breakers. Kickoff is 6 p.m. PT.
