San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC has signed forward Tabort Etaka Preston for the 2020 USL Championship season pending league and federation approval, the team announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We are delighted to welcome Tabort Etaka Preston to the SAFC Family," said SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina. "Taka is a former youth international who represented Cameroon, and he possesses electrifying pace, great commitment on and off the ball, and demonstrates the ability to score goals. He fits the player profile of our game model and culture."
Preston joins SAFC after spending the 2019 USL Championship season with the Las Vegas Lights. In 31 league appearances with Las Vegas, Preston scored eight goals and recorded three assists in 2,249 minutes played. The 21-year-old also added 34 key passes and 54 successful dribbles over the course of the season for the lights. Preston recorded eight shots, three shots on target, one goals and five key passes in two matches against SAFC last year.
"I want to thank the front office and coaching staff of San Antonio FC for giving me this opportunity," said Preston. "I believe in the ambition of the club, and I am excited to be part of this family. With the help of God, we will achieve great things this year."
The forward has also spent time in the Albanian first division with KS Kastrioti Kruje where he played during the 2018-19 season. In addition, the Cameroon native has represented his country at the U-20 level where he made three appearances at the African U-20 Cup of Nations in 2017.
Preston will wear No. 19 for the club.
