Tinton Falls, N.J.- A pair of Sky Blue FC players will be playing in the Australia W-League during the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) offseason, as forward Sam Kerr and midfielder Nikki Stanton kick off the W-League season with Perth Glory this weekend.

"Perth is a fantastic club, which ensures that Sam and Nikki will continue the development of their game during the NWSL offseason," said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. "Being around the competitive environment they will see every day in Australia will also help them prepare to have great seasons for Sky Blue FC next year as well."

Sky Blue FC is currently working on solidifying a new contract with Kerr, while Stanton will be playing on loan. Both Kerr and Stanton spent the 2015-16 W-League season playing with Perth on loan prior to this year.

Perth will open W-League play on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. local time in Australia (which is 3:30 a.m. ET on Saturday morning) against the Western Sydney Wanderers. Fans in the U.S. can watch the action live on ESPN3.com or via the WatchESPN app.

For the second consecutive season, Kerr won the Sky Blue FC Golden Boot in 2016, which is awarded to the player who accumulated the most goals during the season. Despite playing in just nine matches and making six starts this year, Kerr recorded five goals in 616 minutes of action. In another impressive feat, Kerr scored in four consecutive matches towards the end of the 2016 NWSL campaign, and she has now registered 11 goals and two assists in just 18 games played (15 starts) for Sky Blue FC over the past two years.

Stanton finished her third consecutive season with Sky Blue FC in 2016, making four starts over 12 appearances. On the year, the Fairfield University graduate accumulated a total of 412 minutes on the pitch.

In terms of a timetable, both Kerr and Stanton will complete the W-League season in Australia prior to the start of the 2017 Sky Blue FC preseason.
