Austin Aztex News Release

AUSTIN, Texas (www.austinaztex.com) - Ljungskile SK (Sweden) defender Sam Brill has signed on with the Austin Aztex for one year with the club option of a second, pending USSF approval and international clearances.

The Boston College graduate has been with Ljungskile SK for the past two seasons since signing in March 2009 after a very brief stint with FC Sachsen Leipzig (Germany) and sticking with the New England Revolution for much of 2008.

Despite not getting any regular season action with the Revolution, Brill scored a goal in his professional debut with the club on July 1, 2008, when he scored a goal against the Richmond Kickers in the third round of the US Open Cup.

"Sam has the potential to be an excellent contributor to this year's squad," Head Coach Adrian Heath said. "The experience he's gained both domestically and abroad really makes him an excellent addition to an already strong group. We can't wait to get him on board."

While at Boston College, Brill was a four-year starter that scored six goals and tallied three assists. He started 58 of his 63 career games as an Eagle and was named second-team All-Big EAST as a sophomore, helping to lead a stifling defense that allowed just 1.33 goals per game as a senior.

Brill joins an Aztex team that is 3-1 and is currently only one point back of the USSF leaders, the Portland Timbers. Brill will begin training with the club following their match at Tampa Bay on Saturday.
