Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings and the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks have extended their affiliation agreement into the 2007-08 season.

The Salmon Kings will continue to work in conjunction with Dave Nonis (Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager) Steve Tambellini (Vancouver Canucks Vice-President and Assistant General Manager) and their scouting and coaching staffs in the development of future NHL players.

"I am very pleased with the working relationship between our two organizations," said Dan Belisle, Salmon Kings Vice-President of Hockey Operations and General Manager. "We both understand the need for the Salmon Kings to develop players and be part of the system for Vancouver. We are looking forward to building on the successes of last season, and continue being a training ground for these players to reach the next step in their careers."

"We are pleased to announce this extension with the Salmon Kings," said Tambellini. "This partnership provides a strong local connection between the Canucks and the Salmon Kings and reinforces our commitment to further develop and support hockey in British Columbia. The relationships that we have with both the Salmon Kings and the Manitoba Moose greatly benefit the growth of our players."

The Salmon Kings made their first playoff appearance last season, and the Canucks finished third in the Western Conference. The original affiliation agreement was announced on July 18, 2006.

The Salmon Kings will kick off their fourth season in the ECHL in Idaho on Oct 19, 2007, and will host the Las Vegas Wranglers for the Home Opener Series on Oct 26 and 27.
