Salles Earns Team of the Week Honor

(Rochester, NY) -- The Major Arena Soccer League today announced this week's Team of the Week. Each week, the MASL selects the top performing players in the league to join this list. From over 400 active players in the league, Salles was selected as one of just three forwards to earn a spot.
Salles, who leads the team in scoring with 37 points, exploded for a five goal night, one of which was beyond the three-point line. After leading the team to a 21-12 victory, he now sits in the top ten of scoring leaders in the MASL. His 30 goals this season is tied for fifth best in the league.
Originally from Brazil, Salles has played in top leagues around the world including Brazil, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Japan, and even Kuwait. Since joining the Lancers in 2011, he has scored 108 total goals, making him the top scorer in team history. After battering goalkeepers this season with the strongest left footed shot in the league, Salles still has his eyes on much bigger accomplishments for the team.
"We had a good, strong performance and dominated the game, putting it out of reach in the fourth quarter," said Salles, the team's captain. "We still have a lot to improve on, but we have nearly two weeks before our next game. We are going to work hard and focus on clinching our spot in the playoffs."
Andrew Hoxie Earns Team of the Week Honorable Mention
Lancers forward Andrew Hoxie continued his red-hot January in Harrisburg last weekend as he had a goal and four assists to help lift the Lancers to a 21-12 divisional victory. All of this while still displaying a perfectly trimmed mustache that would even impress Ron Bergundy himself.
Since January 1, he's tallied an impressive 12 goals and 10 assists putting him third in team scoring and is on his way to his best season yet. In 14 games played this season, Hoxie has scored 15 goals, with 12 assists and 27 total points.
The Lancers head into a bye week this weekend riding a 2-0 winning streak. They play their next game at undefeated Baltimore on Friday, February 13 at 7:35pm. The next Lancers home game at the War Memorial is on Saturday, February 14 at 1pm as they host the Harrisburg Heat.
