Saint Louis FC Awards First Season Ticket
Saint Louis Football Club awarded its first-ever season ticket to the St. Louligans, a local supporters' group, Wednesday night in downtown St. Louis.
The event took place at International Tap House, better known as "Itap", in the Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis.
The event featured speakers from Saint Louis FC and the St. Louligans, as well as a question & answer session where fans had the chance to ask about developments within the club.
Numerous staff members from Saint Louis FC were on hand, with General Manager Jeremy Alumbaugh and Head Coach Dale Schilly speaking to the group about the importance of having a strong relationship between the club and the supporters.
"When we talk to players about joining the club, the supporter culture is something that means a lot to them," Schilly said. "They want to play in an environment where they know they'll be supported, and in return, they want to reward the fans with quality performances."
Brad DeMunbrun and Mitch Morice of St. Louligans also addressed the crowd, emphasizing the benefits to joining the supporters' group while revealing some future plans the group has regarding Saint Louis FC.
The two sides exchanged ceremonial jerseys before Alumbaugh announced that the St. Louligans would be given the club's first season ticket for the 2015 season.
According to DeMunbrun, the Louligans will be giving the ticket to a new fan before each Saint Louis FC home game as a way to encourage more people to attend the club's matches at St. Louis Soccer Park.
"From our very first meeting it was evident that the St. Louligans are passionate about helping grow this franchise into something special for St. Louis," Alumbaugh added. "Providing a ticket to a new potential fan for each game is just one way they are helping us build Saint Louis FC."
Saint Louis FC also agreed to provide certain benefits to St. Louligans members, including a special edition scarf, travel opportunities and watch parties for away games, and access to the St. Louis Soccer Park for charity events.
"When you look at the growth of the professional game over the past few years, avid supporters in the stands have made a huge impact," Alumbaugh said. "Their enthusiasm and energy carries into all sections of the stadium and ultimately onto the field to the players."
